Radiant for Generations

Transforming our miracle building into an excellent space for ministry, so people across Kansas City are Rescued, Transformed, Empowered, and Commissioned.

“Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5

Pastor David Perkins and his wife, with the Kansas City skyline behind them

Dear Radiant Church,

In 2016, our home in Overland Park was filled with people worshiping, praying, and dreaming about what God might do through Radiant Church. Those early prayer meetings were marked by a profound sense of God’s presence. We’ll always remember our elementary-age children helping us prepare the house for spiritually hungry people who gathered to pray for a new church that would shine the light of Jesus. There was something deeply joyful about watching our children be part of those nights. Even then, Renata and I dreamed of a church where every generation would come together, shine the light of Jesus, and be a blessing to the generations still to come. Psalm 145:4 captures that vision: “One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts.”

God gave us a miracle building with more than 83,000 square feet at 135th and Quivira. We purchased it for $4.5 million through the outrageous generosity of our church family. Since moving in, our Dream Team has volunteered more than 5,000 hours to turn the building into our home. Now we begin significant renovations that will strengthen our church to impact generations to come. To accomplish this, we are believing God for $2.63 Million.

We named this initiative Radiant for Generations because God has called us to look to Jesus, shine His light, and bless future generations. Psalm 34:5 says, “Those who look to Him are radiant.” As we move forward in faith, please keep praying and consider how God might be inviting you to participate. Renata and I love serving Jesus alongside you, and it’s an honor to lead people to become radiant disciples of Jesus together.

Those Who Look To Him Are RADIANT!

The story so far

Where are we now?

Grateful for the past. Faith for the future.

We’re filled with gratitude as we look back and celebrate moving into our miracle building in south Overland Park. It has been wonderful to work together to make our building a functional home through the initial renovations as part of Building Radiant. As we look ahead, more than future construction, Radiant for Generations is about creating a space where we can together accomplish the vision God has given our church for people to be Rescued, Transformed, Empowered, and Commissioned all across Kansas City.

Giving is worship, so we remain committed to integrity and transparency every step of the way. Our trustee board has provided oversight and budget approval from purchase through renovation. Built in 1999, our miracle building requires essential updates, and this first Radiant for Generations phase is focused on safety, code compliance, and long-deferred maintenance, along with refreshing the look and feel to reflect our culture and create welcoming, functional spaces. Now that we’re in, we’re actively shaping this environment to support ministry today while laying the groundwork for future projects that will help more people encounter Jesus, become like Him, and do what He did.

This would not be possible without your generosity, Radiant Church. Thank you!

    What’s next

    Future projects

After the current Essentials phase is complete, we will move to the next phase of our master plan to build out a dedicated Radiant Kids space, open up our lobby, improve our Auditorium, and then move to renovate every square foot God has given us to make it an excellent place for ministry.

We have a big vision for our miracle building to be an effective instrument for our mission to lead people to become radiant disciples of Jesus. We know that God will do immeasurably more than all that we could ask or imagine, so we invite you to join us in praying for a move of God in our city, and that He would help our church to step into all His purpose for us.

    Your part

    How to contribute

As a church, we are committed to move at the pace of your generosity, and every gift makes a difference. We encourage you to ask Jesus what He would have you give. Nothing more, nothing less. Thank you for being part of the story Jesus is writing through Radiant.
